You guys!! I just found the awesome that is an Audiobook. It all started when I won a copy of The Bone Season from Novel Sounds. I downloaded it and signed up for the first month of Audible and ended up getting  Fangirl as well with my free credit.Â
And then I started listening.Â
I never really put much thought into audio books. Mostly because I didn’t think it would be the same experience as reading a book, but also because I always felt that I didn’t have much time to listen. Plus… would the narrator do weird voices and stuff?  I mean, I’m not a three year old.
Let me tell you this is certainly not the case.
I mean, first of all, I sit at my desk for 8 hours a day… plenty of time to listen to books while I work right? While it’s definitely a different reading experience than actually sitting down with a book and reading the words myself, I still found it just as enjoyable.
It’s like those storytime things you hear about at the library for kids… but it’s for me!
Let me start with Fangirl, because that is the one I listened to first. I have read the paper copy of the book and I adored the story. The audio is just as wonderful. I loved the narrator, Rebecca Lowman. She did an amazing job and I found that I had all the swoons and flails and laughs that I did reading the book myself.
Then I moved on to The Bone Season – I adore the narrator of this story – Alana Kerr’s voice was so amazing to listen to, and she did a wonderful job. This is another book that I had already read, but I have to say that it’s a whole different experience simply listening along.Â
This is where I will probably struggle in my review of the actual books because I’m not sure what else to tell you.   I have to say that I would probably still ‘read’ the book myself even if I did listen to the audiobook… I tend to take notes and comments to note in my reviews while I’m reading, but I really can’t do that while I’m listening. I mean, I probably could, but I’m too lazy and I think it would be harder for me to concentrate on the story if I’m trying to take notes.
I will definitely be getting additional audio books, and I’m almost done with The Bone season – if you have any recommendations, please drop them in the comments. I’d love to hear them!
If you haven’t tried audio books yet, give it a try! You might find you really like them!  Plus Audible has really good membership deals all the time and you get one free title a month!Â
Have you tried audiobooks? What do you think about them and do you have any favorites that I need to ‘read’? Â Keep me posted!!
