BEA WRAP UP – Part 2 – The Books & Authors Plus A Giveaway!

Hey Everyone!! As you all know, we were off in NYC last week enjoying the amazing city and sights as well as BEA (Book Expo of America in case you didn’t know)! We will be doing a wrap-up podcast with our blogging BFF’s Swoony Boy Podcast, but we wanted to highlight what our trip was like before that goes up! You can read all about our time in NYC and the place we visited and things we did in part 1 – The City

Today, in part 2 – we’re going to highlight the authors and the books! This being our second year at BEA we were determined to be a bit more selective in what we grabbed and took home, and to be honest, I think I did pretty good! We’ll have a full list of titles at the bottom with links for you to add them to your ‘TBR’ pile!

Our book haul actually started on Wednesday when we were invited to a couple of parties… Books from Harlequin, Little Brown and Harpercollins were brought back to our hotel room and BEA hadn’t even officially started! We met Mary Kubica, Heather Gudenkauf, Tiffany Reisz, Shannon Stacey & Maisey Yates just to name a few!

Thursday:

Day 1 of BEA – We actually started the day at The Harlequin Teen Breakfast where we got to eat a bit and hear about the upcoming titles from Jennifer Armentrout, Alexandria Adornetto, Robin Talley, Adi Alsaid & Julie Kagawa – We grabbed a couple of books and an awesome tote bag but headed up to the BEA floors so we could make it in time to the first thing on our list – Zodic. We all headed over to Penguin to meet Romina Russell and get our signed copies and from there the day seemed like a big blur! For the most part Meg and I got to hang out all day in the same lines! Our morning consisted of standing in line for a ticket to stand in line for a signing of Landline from Rainbow Rowell – which we both wanted horribly enough to pretend not to be in a line near the MacMillan booth for about an hour and a half. Totally worth it when we got into Rainbow’s line and *cue fangirl* she remembered me and I got a hug! From there we kind of made the rounds on the floor- hitting a couple planned drops as well as standing in lines for Katherine Howe, Melissa Marr & Gretchen McNeil. Erin also got to meet Caragh O’Brien & Amy Plum on Thursday!

Thursday night was the #YAPARTY and you guys the authors we got to meet and hang out with were all amazing – Our highlight though – FINALLY meeting Marie Rutkoski. We were determined to make this happen and a little birdie told me that she had RSVP’d yes and so we just had to bring our The Winner’s Curse books along just in case! Authors like Jennifer Armentrout, Erica Cameron, Rebecca Serle, Susane Colasanti, Ryan Graudin, Adam Silvera & Amy Plum just to name a few.

Friday: Friday was all about Jandy Nelson for me… And Sarah J. Maas. It was Sophie’s Choice because for some reason someone scheduled them for the exact same time. Talk about fail. But I had to go meet Jandy because omg The Sky Is Everywhere is probably my most favorite book ever. While we were hovering around the Penguin booth Marie Lu was signing and we actually got to get a signed sampler of her upcoming (which I can’t wait for) The Young Elites. And then JANDY happened!!

After that I was able to get back in line for Heir of Fire with Erin where apparently the other half of the BEA attendee’s were sitting. The line was crazy but Sarah was amazing and gorgeous as usual! It was lovely to see her again and as I type this, both Erin and I have already finished HoF – it was our first read from the stacks we brought back and holy crap you guys … I hope you’re reading the series. That is all.

We also met Martina Boone & Rachel Harris as well as made it to a couple planned galley drops along the way.

Saturday: AKA HELL — yes I’m sticking with this as a descriptor. I had plans for Saturday… almost none of which happened. I had to stand in line for The Return and see Jennifer Armentrout one more time. I had planned on getting into the Harlequin Teen line… but that didn’t happen. The whole bookcon thing was a horrible mess. I did end up making it to one Little Brown galley drop but other than seeing Jennifer the day was pretty much not what we expected. We did get this picture with Jennifer Armentrout – also Cassandra Clare & Holly Black unofficially included!

We decided to check out one of the BookCon events – Jason Segel. I honestly have a bit of a crush on this guy after listening to him talk and I can’t wait to check out his middle grade book coming called Nightmares.
