Today is the kick-off of the Book Blogger Love-A-Thon! It’s a weekend event where we share a little bit about ourselves, and friends and other blogs and of course books – Thank you Alexa for organizing this and just being so wonderful!
If you’re just now hearing about the Love-a-Thon, you can still sign up! Just visit this post and fill out the form. Then tweet Alexa the lovely host of this event at @alexalovesbooks, or shoot her an email to bbloveathon@gmail.com, so she can add you to the official participant list in the main post!
So today, we are starting off with the questionnaire that will hopefully shed a bit more light on who we are!
What’s your name?
Well there are two of us – Jaime & Erin
Where in the world are you blogging from?
We’re blogging from Milwaukee, WI
How did you get into blogging in the first place?
It was a total accident – a friend suggested I give it a try since I was reading and posting reviews to a blog I had already so I made a few adjustments and that’s that!
How did you come up with your blog name
I chose Fiction Fare mostly because it really worked well with that I was doing at the time in the way of writing fanfiction, but also because I wanted to use the word fare in the way it’s used to describe food (I love food)… The official definition according to google is “a range of food” i.e. “hearty fare” so… basically we offer a wide range of fiction and hopefully you’ll find something here that will feed your heart, mind and soul and maybe you’ll even come back to us for seconds and thirds!
What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?
Fiction Fare is for not a genre specific book review blog. What we read and review is kind of all over the place as we both have different interests, but you’ll definitely find books in both the Young Adult and Adult Fiction categories. But within those categories we usually read a lot of Contemporary, Contemporary Romance, Historical, Dystopian and Sci-Fi … so pretty much everything but westerns and biographies!
What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?
We do cover reveals, and giveaways and this past year we’ve started doing more reviews with authors. We also host a book challenge – Real Book Challenge and we’re in year two & it’s so fun and SUPER EASY! Plus we giveaway featured books to the participants each month! We started a feature called Flashback Friday where we feature books we’ve loved that are over 2 years old!! JOIN US FOR THIS – We want to know what older books you loved!! We ALSO get to do some podcasts with our lovely sister bloggers Meg & Kassiah at Swoony Boys Podcast! It’s so fun… I mean who doesn’t want to talk about book boys??
Best blogging experience so far?
Oh man… maybe being a featured blogger for the Fierce Reads tour stop here in Milwaukee! I got to hang out with the authors and interview every one… plus… Leigh Bardugo was part of the tour and OMG she is amazing.
Favorite thing about the blogging community?
How lovely everyone is… no seriously, I have been doing this for just about 3 years now, and it’s amazing how many friends I’ve made!
Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2015!
Books I’ve Read – Fill In Boyfriend by Kasie West, Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by BeckyAlbertalli, A Court of Thorns & Roses by Sarah J. Maas, The Sin-EatersDaughter by Melinda Salisbury, The Winners Crime by Marie Rutkoski
Books I Haven’t Read – Between Us & The Moon by RebeccaMaizel, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, Burn by Paula Weston, Every Move byEllie Marney, The Vanishing Throne byElizabeth May
What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?
One that I don’t think has hit the US as hard but is amazing is the Every Series by Ellie Marney – Underrated stand alone book – probably Trouble by Non Pratt – I loved it!
Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?
Caymen Meyers from The Distance Between Us. I love her snark and sarcasm… it’s like she’s a long lost sister of ours.
Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?
I have a kid, so driving him around? LOL Kidding, I love spending time with friends, and baking… way too much baking!
Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?
I love shopping for my #otspsecretsister but otherwise I’m not much of a shopper!
At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing?
Omg I listen to books way more than I listen to music these days… anything Coldplay? LOL
Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.
I would totally love to see Throne of Glass series on the big screen… or Cora Carmack’s Rusk University series seems like a weekly guilty pleasure I could get into if it were on TV!
We hope you enjoyed getting to know us a bit better!! Join us all weekend for more! Make sure you head on over to Alexa Loves Books to enter the giveaways! (US & INTL!!) And make sure you swing by some of the other blogs today to see what’s going on! Leave us some love in the comments too!
