The Bookapalooza Scavenger Hunt Has Begun!
Making the Grade is Celebrating One Year of Blogging! And to add to that celebration, Bookapalooza has been created in order to share our love of reading with all of you – and win great prizes while you’re at it. To see all that Bookapalooza has in store for you, visit Making the Grade
I had the opportunity this year to meet and interact with quite a few very wonderful authors. Twitter IS an amazing forum for making connections.  I often wonder if authors realize just how much a simple thank you for a review and blog post means. The first time I ever got a response from an author I am pretty sure I almost fell out of my chair. And then… it happened again and again.  Just that simple connection is one of the reasons I am diligent about posting and reviewing.  When I spend an hour writing a review for a book it is gratifying to know that the author has read it and appreciates it. So, first, I want to celebrate the authors who take the time to interact with book bloggers and readers, and who show their appreciation for the time and effort that is put into it.
I’m new to the book blogging world. I came here via the fanfiction world… I know, it sounds like a weird transition, but really if you think about it, it’s not. Â I had my fill of fanfiction, but not reading! Â I started devouring books and writing reviews when a good friend told me maybe I should look at transitioning my graphics/fanfic blog to that of a book blog. Â I thought about it for a few days because to be honest, I knew that it would be a big investment as far as time and yes, money. Â I would have to commit to posting regularly and *gasp* reach out and make some new friends! LOL When it came right down to it, I had to do it. Â I love to read and I love to share my opinion so it just makes sense that I would give book blogging a try. Â Over the last 6 months or so, I’ve made some incredible connections and I’m astounded by the sheer number of book blogs that can be found. Every single person putting just as much, if not sometimes more time into it than I do. Â If you look along the sidebar of my blog here you’ll see buttons for many of my favorites and please, take the time to go follow and show your support! Â I know they appreciate it just as much as I do!
Finally, being new to the blogging world it was a struggle because I had this mentality that ‘Hey! Fic Fare is awesome – everyone will follow and I’ll have tons of comments and feedback… *cue blank stare* It’s work. It’s absolutely a lot of work. Â And, I’m slowly growing and gaining followers, but I am grateful to each and every one of you who comments on a post, likes the facebook page, follows via google friend connect or email, retweets a tweet or asks me an opinion on a book… and especially those of you who tell everyone you know that they should go check out my blog, and trust my opinion on books because it truly makes each and every minute I spend reading/writing/reviewing worth it.
So this year I’m hoping to bring you more reviews, more suggestions, more giveaways and lots of good books to read. Â Thank you for all your support and love in 2012 and please know that I appreciate each and every one of you!
