So – it is Day 10 which means we are now two thirds of the way through this challenge which is hosted over at goodbooksandgoodwine We are prompted to answer how we choose what to read next.
What really dictates our reading order is what we have on the calendar for postings, events, and giveaways. Â If we have a reveal or a review scheduled/due, that obviously is a commitment we need to meet and that trumps anything else. If someone has loaned us a copy of something and others are on the wait list, we try to get those read as soon as possible just out of courtesy. Â Â Once we have those things taken care of, we get to read anything else. Â At times we go to Twitter to see what anyone else might recommend or what anyone might say if we can’t decide between specific titles. Â Other times we may be in the mood for a specific genre or author and hunt out whatever we can that fits the bill.
Neither of us are lacking in books sitting on our to be read bookshelf so if we can’t decide on anything right off the top of our heads, we will browse our shelves and pick something from there. Â
I (jaime) will admit that I do have an ‘On Deck’ shelf in my goodreads bookshelves, which seems to be filled with books that at one point I read the summary and said ‘OMG I have to read that next’ so if I’m ever in a slump, I usually start there to see if something catches my eye. Â Like Erin said above though, we don’t have any shortage of titles to pick from, so what usually happens is I pick three that I’m really hoping to get to soon, and then ask people what they think I should read out of them. Â Sometimes I listen… sometimes I just go with my gut! Â
