I know… I know… As if you don’t have a million and one memes to follow! BUT we’re hoping that you might want to participate in just one more! Â
If you’re like us, you read a lot… you add a ton to your ‘to be read’ lists and you sometimes forget about some amazing things because they get pushed down either your favorites list or that pile of books you need to read. Â That doesn’t mean those books are no less amazing!
This is a way for us to highlight books that are older that maybe don’t get as much recognition now because they have been out for a while. Â Books that we read and loved or books that have been on our To Be Read lists for ages, but we just haven’t gotten around to them yet. Â
On to the details – Pick a book… any book that meets the following criteria: Â
1. Â Must have been published at least 2 years ago orÂ
2. Â Preferably is still in print or available to read

The king’s scholar, the magus, believes he knows the site of an ancient treasure. To attain it for his king, he needs a skillful thief, and he selects Gen from the king’s prison. The magus is interested only in the thief’s abilities.
What Gen is interested in is anyone’s guess. Their journey toward the treasure is both dangerous and difficult, lightened only imperceptibly by the tales they tell of the old gods and goddesses.
ÂABOUT MEGAN
For those of you who have to write reports for school, I will say that I was born in 1965 and I have siblings, all of them older, which makes me the baby of the family. We had a pet cat when I was growing up. He died a long time ago, but I think he is living his next life with the author of Tithe, Holly Black. I have seen pictures and her White Cat appears too similar for mere coincidence. I moved around a lot while I was growing up and I still do. I am married. My husband, Mark Turner, is a professor of Cognitive Science at Case Western Reserve University. We live in Southern California right now, but next summer we will be returning to Ohio. After that, we plan to move to Norway. No kidding. After a year in Norway, it will be back to Ohio with a heigh-ho.
I graduated from The University of Chicago with a BA in English Language and Literature with honors in 1987. I worked as a bookseller for seven or eight years before I started writing. My first book was a collection of short stories called Instead of Three Wishes. My first novel was The Thief, which was awarded a Newbery Honor in 1997

THE IRON WITCH (THE IRON WITCH, #1)
By: Karen Mahoney
Publication Date: February 8, 2011
I have had this book on my to read list for a while now and I can’t wait to dive into it. Â I love a good book about Faeries so that drew me to this one but also the cover because I absolutely love it!
Freak. That’s what her classmates call seventeen-year-old Donna Underwood. When she was seven, a horrific fey attack killed her father and drove her mother mad. Donna’s own nearly fatal injuries from the assault were fixed by magic—the iron tattoos branding her hands and arms. The child of alchemists, Donna feels cursed by the magical heritage that destroyed her parents and any chance she had for a normal life. The only thing that keeps her sane and grounded is her relationship with her best friend, Navin Sharma.
When the darkest outcasts of Faerie—the vicious wood elves—abduct Navin, Donna finally has to accept her role in the centuries old war between the humans and the fey. Assisted by Xan, a gorgeous half-fey dropout with secrets of his own, Donna races to save her friend—even if it means betraying everything her parents and the alchemist community fought to the death to protect.
ABOUT KAREN
THE IRON WITCH, THE WOOD QUEEN & THE STONE DEMON make up my YA contemporary fantasy trilogy for Flux in the US and Random House in the UK. It’s about alchemy, dark elves, and a girl with magical iron tattoos. FALLING TO ASH (September 2012), began a new series for Random House UK about an ass-kicking teen vampire called Moth. You can read more of Moth’s adventures in her very own webcomic: www.mothtales.com
In my varied career I’ve been a professional Tarot reader, a college counsellor, a dating agency consultant and a bookseller. Ever since I was six years old what I really wanted to be was Wonder Woman, but have instead settled for being a writer which is the best job of all!
