I don’t know what took me so long to pick this book up but whatever…I grabbed The Thief on audio and read it over the last month and I loved it. The front half was a bit slow but by the time I got to the end, I couldn’t wait to see what happens next for these characters. I’ll definitely be grabbing the next one off my bookshelf…or maybe stick with the audio. You can’t beat Steve West as a narrator.

The king's scholar, the magus, believes he knows the site of an ancient treasure. To attain it for his king, he needs a skillful thief, and he selects Gen from the king's prison. The magus is interested only in the thief's abilities.
What Gen is interested in is anyone's guess. Their journey toward the treasure is both dangerous and difficult, lightened only imperceptibly by the tales they tell of the old gods and goddesses.
