Hi Everyone!! As you may have noticed we have been busy working on some changes around here. Â The goal was to have this done in time for our blogoversary which was April 11th, BUT life gets in the way and other things ended up taking priority and well, this was honestly a whole lot of learning things over for us as we moved the blog from Blogger over to a self-hosted WordPress site. Â The lovely and amazing Kassiah did all the heavy lifting for us, but as you’ll notice, we’re still cleaning up old posts (OMG only 600 reviews left to index!) Â and getting pages set and for me and Erin it’s a lot of learning how WordPress works and adjusting what we were doing for THREE WHOLE YEARS!
So yay! That’s really what this post is about! Â We’re celebrating three years of blogging and the book community and getting to know you all and share our love of books and tell you that we’re so excited that you follow us and trust our recommendations!
The past year has been so crazy – I feel like I was writing up a post just like this only days ago!
Over the past year, we’ve attended some amazing author events, attended some amazing book events (ALA, BEA) and we have a ton more on the horizon… can anyone gauge how excited we are to be moderating the Sarah J. Maas event in just a couple weeks… the answer is no.
Anyway we just wanted to take a second to share some of our milestones!
First up… we surpassed 1,500 followers on the blog – I’m always surprised that anyone wants to listen to us ramble about books, but 1,500 of you??? That’s insane. Â I’m sure I’ll throw a party or something if we ever hit 3,000 LOL
We surpassed 1,000 followers on Instagram! If you’re not following us there, really I post pictures of books and my crazy cats… occasionally you might catch a picture of us with authors there as well! Â So if you aren’t following please do!
We posted 282 reviews last year! Â I can’t even with that number, but there you have it.
Over the past year you may have noticed a few things changing as we get to know what people like and enjoy and want… but I wanted to highlight a few things that we’ve started and are always looking for more participants for!
Real Books Challenge – This is something you’re probably already doing so why not get some credit for it and win books and stuff – We challenge you to put down your e-reader! Pick up those books that are on your bookshelves and read them! Â All the details can be found here – so sign up today!
Flashback Friday – Remember way back when you didn’t blog about books if you’re a blogger? Â Back when you didn’t have a platform to scream to the world about how much you loved a book? Â We do! And we wanted a way to highlight those books which brought about Flashback Friday ! Â This unfortunately hasn’t been getting much love which makes us sad, so we don’t know how long it’s going to be sticking around. Â Join us and make us keep doing this!
We’re also going to be trying something new! WhaddYA Know Wednesday! Â A fun book trivia thing we’ve got in the works – Â Please make sure you’re setting aside your 3rd Wednesday of the month to win prizes and have fun with us on twitter!! More details to follow on that too!
So really the whole point of this post is to say thank you… and we hope to see you for another year… and stick around for all the fun an amazing things that are sure to come!
We’re celebrating this milestone by cleaning off our shelves. Â I have TWO GINORMOUS boxes of YA books – they are a mix of finished copies and arcs and hardcovers and paperbacks. Â I can’t remember what I put in there so it’s going to be a surprise for you just as much for me.
I also have one large box of romance books that I’ve accumulated that I need to get off my shelves! SO if romance is your thing, definitely enter that giveaway!
