King Adam of Hogwarts is basically my most favorite person ever of all time… and I don’t say that lightly. Â He’s so fun, and so passionate about what he writes and he’s such an amazing advocate for so many different people that I dare you to not love him. Â I was lucky enough to meet him a couple of years ago and I look forward to meeting up with him at every opportunity we get which isn’t often enough. Â Adam was kind enough to answer a couple fun Thanksgiving questions for us but first check out his books!Â
In the months after his father’s suicide, it’s been tough for 16-year-old Aaron Soto to find happiness again–but he’s still gunning for it. With the support of his girlfriend Genevieve and his overworked mom, he’s slowly remembering what that might feel like. But grief and the smile-shaped scar on his wrist prevent him from forgetting completely.
When Genevieve leaves for a couple of weeks, Aaron spends all his time hanging out with this new guy, Thomas. Aaron’s crew notices, and they’re not exactly thrilled. But Aaron can’t deny the happiness Thomas brings or how Thomas makes him feel safe from himself, despite the tensions their friendship is stirring with his girlfriend and friends. Since Aaron can’t stay away from Thomas or turn off his newfound feelings for him, he considers turning to the Leteo Institute’s revolutionary memory-alteration procedure to straighten himself out, even if it means forgetting who he truly is.
Why does happiness have to be so hard?
OCD-afflicted Griffin has just lost his first love, Theo, in a drowning accident. In an attempt to hold onto every piece of the past, he forges a friendship with Theo’s last boyfriend, Jackson. When Jackson begins to exhibit signs of guilt, Griffin suspects he’s hiding something, and will stop at nothing to get to the truth about Theo’s death. But as the grieving pair grows closer, readers will question Griffin’s own version of the truth both in terms of what he’s willing to hide and what true love means.
Do you have any fun Thanksgiving traditions? Â
My tradition is immediately figuring out who has the greatest selection of turkey stuffing and crashing their house. I desperately want more stuffing throughout the year.
Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving pie?
GOLDEN OREO PIE. And yes, that is a pie I just made up so I could troll Becky Albertalli.
What’s your most creative leftover turkey idea?
Making it last as long as possible so I don’t have to return to an unhealthy life of fast food 24/7.
If you could have any 3 authors at your Thanksgiving table, who would they be and why? (Living or dead!)
This is an impossible question! I’m gonna answer with authors I haven’t met before whom I adore. J.K. Rowling, of course, to thank her for inspiring me to write my own stories. Benjamin Alire Saenz, to thank him for inspiring me to write gay love stories without holding back. And Lewis Carroll. I have some questions on what the hell was happening in his life when he wrote Alice in Wonderland.
What book will you be reading over the holiday?
I’ll be rereading The Young Elites and diving into the rest of the series for the first time.Â
What are you most thankful for this season?
READERS. And not just because I’m on a kickass blog. I’m truly indebted to every reader who’s checked out my book from a library, bought a copy, Favorited a tweet of mine, and overall encouraged me to keep going. Thank you for my happiness, Readers!
Adam, we are truly thankful for you and I don’t know why you keep referring to those yellow cookies as Oreo’s because they are definitely not. 🙂  BTW – I bookmarked this page for you…  because I’m sure golden oreo pie is a thing somewhere.
