His Lover To Protect is a nice addition to the Out Of Uniform series and focuses on Alexis Yeung and Luke Jackson.

Luke, tasked with watching over his friends little sister while she traverses Europe, is having a hard time keeping up. Definitely not something a former pararescuer would ever admit to… and once he gets to know Alexis his job of keeping her safe isn’t really the issue anymore, it’s keeping his identity a secret and fighting the connection between them.

I have to say that while this wasn’t my favorite, I still enjoyed both the characters and the story.

If you read the previous book in this series, you know that Alexis and her family are not on the same page with a lot of things. Her grandparents disagree with her life choices and this has put her on the outs with them, but she is still dealing with the death of her mother and her sister’s pregnancy.

I think the thing I liked best, because this is a favorite trope of mine, is that these two did NOT hit it off immediately. Luke’s dark and broody attitude do nothing to endear him to Alexis and admittedly their first accidental meeting has her pointing out the weaknesses in his body. From there it was fun watching these two let down their guards and get to know each other… confiding in one another the things that they hope and dream for. I really enjoyed getting to know them along the way as well.
