Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner has been doing a series called “If We Were Having Coffee” to catch people up on the odds and ends of life that maybe doesn’t exactly fit the book blogging universe!
If We Were Having Coffee… I’d tell you that it has been a super stressful last 14 days blogging wise. Our blog was infected with something and we were really struggling with our hosting provider to get it cleaned up. We couldn’t post or do anything for 7 full days and that means we were late in posting some things and we hate that because it’s super unprofessional and also we know that you guys are here for content from us and when we don’t post … well we hope you all missed us at least a little bit!
If We Were Having Coffee… I’d tell you that I’m so excited that Heidi and Liza asked us to be a part of organizing the Novel Luncheon that they host each year. It’s getting bigger and bigger, and well, we adore them and are so amazed that they asked us to be a part of the team! (If you’re a YA book lover and promoter (blogger/librarian/bookstagrammer/youtuber etc) let me know we’d love to invite you!)
If We Were Having Coffee… I’d tell you that we’re going to start doing Wadda YA Know Wednesday again and we HOPE very much that tons of people will participate because a. it’s fun and b. it’s fun with more people and c. Prizes! All the details on it are here JOIN US ON THE 19th at 9:00pm CST!
If We Were Having Coffee… I’d tell you that I’m super frustrated with #bookstagram for many different reasons. Some days it feels super unwelcoming and cliquey. Plus the instagram logarithm changed everything – now I’m seeing pictures that are days old at the top of my feed and I went from people seeing my stuff to… apparently not. It’s super sad. Also … allllll the promotion of stores feels like one giant ad all the time. *sigh* BUT – I’m still over there sharing my love of books and random things and giving things away! Follow me if you’re so inclined … AND feel free to talk with me! I think that’s what bothers me most is that there is such limited interaction even when I try. Man I could go on and on LOL
If We Were Having Coffee… I’d tell you that Erin and I binged RIVERDALE this past weekend – watching all 13 episodes in just a couple of days. Initial thoughts – ALL the parents are crazy and it’s kind of a mash up of nancy drew/the hardy boys done to the Archie comic. Honestly the only recognizable thing to the comics (my grandma used to get these for us when we were kids to read!) are the character names and the hair color. Ha… can we talk about the creepy twins too? WTF. I can totally see how this is something people are obsessed with though.
If We Were Having Coffee… I’d tell you that I can not wait until August rolls around. I know, I know… it’s only July. However, I have reasons. First… my birthday… then Aug 16th we get to see Hamilton and on Aug 17th we get to see Coldplay (again!) and I’m dying because it’s taking so long to get here. We purchased the tickets for both of these things last year and they’ve just been teasing us since then!
If We Were Having Coffee… I’d tell you that I’m seriously sad that I probably won’t get to see Leigh Bardugo in Chicago when she visits Anderson’s Bookshop on September 5th. It’s the first official day of school and I can’t go gallivanting off to Illinois as I have a child. *sigh* This will be the first event of hers in the area that I’ll have to miss. Which also reminds me that I should rant about how all the events go to Chicago and we ALWAYS have to travel 2 hours… why can’t people come to Milwaukee and for once the Chicago people can make the trip? I could go on a whole tangent about this … especially with Y’ALL Fest and Y’ALL West… it’s like people don’t realize us in the middle like books too!
If We Were Having Coffee… I’d tell you all about the books I’ve been reading lately… how I just loved Love Songs & Other Lies (out in 2018) The Savage Dawn (out now) & Warcross (out in Sept). I’d also tell you that I finally got that ‘you are XX books behind’ monkey off my back and am currently ahead of my reading goal. Finally. I’d also tell you that I’ve been doing audiobook rereads of some of my absolute favorites (Legend Series, Winner’s Curse Trilogy, Illuminae/Gemina).
If We Were Having Coffee… I’d ask you how your summer was going and I’d probably give you a bag of books so…
Tell me how your summer is going!! What would you tell me if we were having coffee!
