Monthly Wrap Up June

So we had a few issues with the blog over the last week so this is going up a bit late but we can still make it work!  We had a fantastic June and can hardly believe that it is July already.  As always, summer is flying and we hope you are enjoying it along with some amazing books!

Fun with our Blogger Besties – Swoony Boys Podcast!

Alright – I know we have missed this for the last few months but WYAKW is coming back!!

If you don’t know what #WYAKW is…it’s our YA trivia night!  We have been having so much fun with it and we hope you will join in!  Whadda Ya Know Wednesday takes place on the 3rd Wednesday of every month…(ok, sometimes it is the 4th one instead)!  We love interacting with all of you and we love talking books, book boys, and gushing over our favorite authors. We couldn’t think of a better way to do all of that than by combining all of those things, throwing in some awesome prizes, and having a blast while doing it!  We have a new scoring system and if you invite your friends and they play, you have an even better chance of winning so make sure you invite and remind them to join in the fun!  Make sure you’re following @Fictionfare and @Swoonyboys to play along!

EVENTS: ALA 2017
ALA was in Chicago at the end of June and we had an amazing time.  Not only were we able to get our hands on some ARCs we have been dying to get, but we had the opportunity to mingle with some blogger friends and meet some authors!  We love ALA as there is definitely a different vibe vs. BEA.  Also – it just so happened that one of the authors I have wanted to meet for a while was going to be at ALA this year so there was no way we were missing that opportunity (I’m looking at you Mary Weber!! Thank you letting us hold up your line (just a bit) and I’m glad you were able to get the picture since we were clearly not prepared to take one!).  Everyone – you need to go check out her books if you haven’t yet…they are some of my favorites!
Of course, we love talking about books and what better place to do that than with librarians!  The only downside was that we didn’t get to see our besties Meg and Kassiah this year since we didn’t do our annual BEA trip and plans to join us for ALA were derailed but I’m optimistic we will be together sometime yet this year!  It is also helpful that they both happen to be near where Mid-Winter and Annual will be held for 2018!
EVENTS: MacKenzi Lee and Brittany Cavallaro
We  had an opportunity to visit with MacKenzi Lee (The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue) and Brittany Cavallaro (The Last of August) thanks to Boswell Book Company!  I’m really looking forward to checking out MacKenzi’s book and the follow up sounds just as good as the first one! And if you haven’t read the Charlotte Holmes series by Brittany, please go pick it up.  The series is soooo good and I can’t wait to get a copy of book 3!
