Summer is here and we kicked it off with a great trip! We just returned from hanging out in DC for ALA and we had such a great time. I’m a total nerd so, of course, we had to hit the museums and check out the monuments. We also were able to visit with bloggers and authors while we were there which is one of my favorite things about going to this conference! Â
Fun with our Blogger Besties – Swoony Boys Podcast!
If you haven’t heard yet, we have recorded some new and fun podcasts with our besties over at Swoony Boys Podcast. We’ve decided that each month we will have a few different things going up because we miss talking to each other so make sure you check back here often.
Our first podcast for this month was us catching up for May. If you recall, each month we choose books for each other from our lists (Erin | Jaime | Kassiah | Meg), and then get together and recap those reads for all of you and let you know what we thought! And we’ll also reveal to each other what we’ll be reading next! Sounds pretty easy, right?
So without further ado, let’s reveal our May 2019 Assigned Readings:

This episode is all about The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw. If you listened to last month’s episode, you know we did something we’ve never done before in #EJKMBookClub history–we read a book that none of us have read before. Our reactions were definitely mixed here, so have a listen and join us with your thoughts about this book using the #EJKMBookClub hashtag on instagram and twitter. Be warned there are some SPOILERS ahead. We don’t exactly spell it all out, but we figured since this book was a couple of years old, it’s fair game. We’ll also be announcing our next month’s pick in this episode.

Events
ALA – Washington DC
We had such a great time at ALA this year – we spent time wandering the exhibit floor, visiting with authors, and hanging out with some blogger friends that we don’t get to see often enough. On top of all of that, we were in Washington DC so we got to nerd it up with some American history! It was a great trip and we were able to get some of the books we are looking forward to this fall. Make sure you come back often – we can’t wait to tell you all about them!
Deborah Harkness – Time’s Convert
Milwaukee was one of four lucky cities that were picked to host Deborah Harkness for the paperback release of Time’s Convert and I’m pretty happy about that. Boswell Book Company did a fantastic job with the event (as they always do) and there was such a great crowd! If you’ve never had the opportunity to hear Harkness speak, you should plan on it the next time she has an event near you. For our event, she spoke about world view and how it shapes her characters and it was all super interesting.
