Learning that her mysterious rescuer, Hudson Kincaid, is also the subject of the mural she's been commissioned to paint in Cedar Ridge, Bailey is intrigued. As she uncovers the real man behind Hudson's strong, silent facade, Bailey begins to realise that the life of adventure she has always dreamed of could be closer to home than she ever imagined.Want more warm, funny romance? Don't miss the first Cedar Ridge novel, Second Chance Summer, visit spellbinding Lucky Harbor or experience some Animal Magnetism in Sunshine, Idaho in Jill's other unforgettable series.
Broken record alert… I read another Jill Shalvis book and I enjoyed it! My Kind of Wonderful is the second book in her new series set at a ski resort filled with hot guys. I am not a skier… I tried it once and decided I’m more the kind of person who would sit in the lodge with a good book and and a cup of coffee waiting for everyone else to finish their fun. That said, if I knew where this lodge was located, I’d be there in a heartbeat.
Bailey has lived most of her life sheltered and in fear of the future but now she’s got a new lease on life and she’s bound and determined to make the most of it. She wants to do all the things that she’s felt like she’s missed out on … and that’s what takes her to Cedar Ridge. She never expects to encounter a certain sexy, multi-tasking ski god.
Hudson Kincaid is a busy guy. He fills in at the police station, and he’s head of Ski Patrol at Cedar Ridge and always on call for both jobs. When he encounters someone at the top of one of the most dangerous ski runs at Cedar Ridge, he doesn’t expect to be as drawn to her as he is. Neither are looking for anything serious, but they aren’t willing to deny the spark between them.
Of course Jill writes a wonderfully sexy relationship, full of heart and fun. While there are definitely some serious aspects to this story, (Bailey is a cancer survivor and Hud has some serious guilt over his brother leaving Cedar Ridge) Shalvis always knows how to add just enough levity to a story to not drag you down while reading it.
I really actually loved these two, despite how obtuse they were about how they were starting to feel about each other. I found myself really clicking with Bailey and completely enjoyed her story arc, and I thought her and Hud really worked and seeing the evolution of their relationship was super sweet and lovely.
Once again Shalvis creates a wonderfully romantic and lighthearted contemporary romance. In this resort filled with sexy men, I don’t know why anyone would want to leave. I certainly would find any excuse to stay!
Definitely recommended to fans of … well, Jill Shalvis, but also Kristan Higgins and Marie Force.
Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.
