Arouse by Nina Lane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I totally picked this up on a whim one night when I couldn’t sleep and I wasn’t disappointed.
Arouse is a riveting and intense read. The story starts out showing us this incredible relationship between Olivia and Dean. There isn’t room for anything but passion and love between the two. Told from Liv’s point of view we can see how much she admires and loves Dean, and who wouldn’t? He’s handsome, sexy, gorgeous and wonderful to her. He’s focused on his career and building a stable life with the woman he loves.
When something happens to shake the foundation of their relationship both Liv and Dean have to figure out what they want out of life and love and their relationship.
Lane, tells this story in both past and present time. While we start in the present time, we get to see the evolution of their relationship and where they started out. We learn about Liv’s history and what she’s overcome and I thought the back and forth was really well done.
The chemistry between the Liv and Dean was palpable from the very first page. But where Dean is confident and experienced, Liv is struggling with what she wants to do… who she wants to be. The sex scenes in Arouse were intense and passionate and incredibly erotic and I think you won’t be one bit disappointed.
I think what Lane did incredibly well is show that relationships aren’t always perfect… people make mistakes and change along the way and deciding what and who is important in the long run is how you either make things work or give up.
The second part of this book gives us some insight into Dean with his POV, which I was definitely grateful for. It was wonderful to see how intensely he loves Liv but struggles with this issue between them.
Definitely give this a read if you’re looking for a story that deals with realistic issues, marriage and a lot of steam! I for one, am looking forward to the second book!
