Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I love this series… no really… I truly do, and when I had access to book 3.5 (Elixir in Aiden’s POV OMGOMGOMG) I died a little bit inside because I had to WAIT to read it until Deity came out.
But when it was released I dropped everything. That is how much I love this story, in fact, I was well over 70% into another book at the time and I completely forgot about it.
Deity picks right back up in Alexandria (Alex) Andros life. Her birthday and The Awakening is right around the corner for her and The Order of Thanatos is determined to make sure she doesn’t see the age of 18. Hanging over her head is the situation from The Catskills and she feels all the guilt over what Aiden did for her.
In Deity we get so much information and I could not read this fast enough. In fact, this is probably the best book in the series.
I have been on the fence about Seth from his first appearance, but this book really clears up a lot of things for me about him. He has been trying to force Alex’s awakening… trying to get it to happen before her birthday. And I found Alex making excuses for him. Even though I get that she had faith in him… I wasn’t sure where it was coming from.
Dear Seth: Please note my bitchface
also…
Aiden… *sigh*
All he’s been trying to do is deny everything happening between him and Alex yet still protect her. He has to stand there and watch the connection between her and Seth get stronger each and every day and UGH you know I love a tortured hero!!
Aiden shifted slightly and his thumb caressed the curve of my cheek. “I’m afraid of something.”
“What?” I whispered.
He drew in a deep, shuddering breath. “I’m afraid of never being allowed to feel what I do.”
and then
Aiden’s hand skimmed over my arm. “I know what you’re thinking, agapi mou, zoi mou.”
I took a shallow breath. “What does that mean?”
“It means, ‘my love, my life’.”
So on top of trying to keep Seth and Aiden from killing each other, Alex has to deal with people wanting her dead simply because of what she is fated to become on her 18th birthday.
I’m not telling you everything that happens in Deity though, nope, you’re going to have to go check it out for yourself. There is so much going on and it was a wonderful ride that had me begging for the next book once I turned the last page on this one. Luckily… you have Elixir, Aiden’s POV that occurs just after the end of this one, available.
This series has a little bit of everything… some funny, definitely some romance and a whole lot of action and if you’re not reading it yet, run and get them and get started now!!
Now… don’t mind me… I’ll be sitting impatiently waiting for the next.
