Mackenzie and Landon were the perfect couple . . . until he dumped her and broke her heart. Fast-forward a year and they’re back where they first met—Serenity Ranch and Spa, where they are once again working together for the summer. Talk about awkward.
Then, Landon takes a nasty fall and gets amnesia. Suddenly, he’s stuck in the past—literally. His most recent memory is of last summer, when he and Mack were still together, so now he’s calling her pet names and hanging all over her. It’s the perfect chance for revenge. The plan is simple: keep Landon at arm’s length, manipulate him so he’s the one falling love, and then BAM, dump him. There’s just one problem: Mack can’t fall for Landon all over again.
The If Only romance line is all about wanting what you can’t have, and Mandy Hubbard’s hilarious break-up/love story is sure to captivate anyone who has ever wished for a second shot at love.

Mackenzie and Landon spent last summer falling for each other … and then he broke her heart.
Fast forward a year and they’re back at Serenity Ranch and Spa for the summer and Mackenzie can’t help but have conflicting feelings for Landon. When Landon falls from his horse and hits his head he suddenly thinks it’s the previous summer and he assumes that he and Mac are still a couple. With a little convincing Mac’s friend talks her into pretending it’s true and making Landon fall for her again just so that she can dump him in a spectacular fashion at the end of the summer.
Overall, I truly enjoyed this story. It was cute and for the most part pretty fluffy with very little drama. You will need to suspend reality a bit at times (i.e. Like why wouldn’t a doctor have been called for Landon because of the amnesia) but for the most part I was able to look beyond that and still enjoy the story.
Our leading lady Mack was actually wonderful to get to know. She struggled with trying to be the girl that she thought Landon wanted last year versus who she really is. It was nice to see her grab hold of that and show that you shouldn’t change just to be with a guy. I even liked her best friend and you definitely got to see some major character growth for them both!
BUT….
The author made one big error in my opinion that really pulled me out of cheering for these two. She made me dislike Landon so much that the reasons he gave for doing what he did at the end, really didn’t make up for the things he did to Mack the previous year. There is one particular passage that comes to mind, and had this one thing been done differently my mind might have been changed.
