Morning Glory – A Novelette by S.L. Scott by S.L. Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Morning Glory is a short romance from S.L. Scott and it immediately pulls you into the story of Hayley and Nick. Friends to lovers is a favorite of mine, and Ms. Scott hits a home run with this short story.
Hayley has just been dumped by her boyfriend Alejandro… someone who she was hoping for that fairy tale ending with.
The person who’s been with her through thick and thin, since the first day of college, has been her best friend Nick.
With the simple statement from Nick “I’m thinking about asking someone out on a date.” everything changes for Hayley.
I really enjoyed this short romance, the story was sweet and the friendship between these two characters was believable and not forced. The banter and the obvious care they had for each other was really truly apparent in their interactions. They had a casual comfort with each other that I liked and enjoyed.
I wanted more from Nick though – Hayley, good lord, She was so self-involved that for 9 years she was missing what was right in front of her. It was apparent to me that they were basically sabotaging each and every relationship they each had because of the relationship they had with each other.
The climax of the story happens naturally and the flow of the entire story really was wonderful. I truly enjoyed this and hope that we see more short stories from Ms. Scott soon!
I was provided an ARC of this book for a true and honest review.
