STAKING HIS CLAIM
By: Tessa Bailey
Publication Date: February 3, 2014
He wants her. All of her.
NYPD sniper Matt Donovan is in Hell. Instead of driving his best friend’s little sister home from college, he’s stuck with her roommate—a fresh-faced ray-of-sunshine with a body that makes grown men weep. There’s no way he’ll allow himself to taint the little vixen, no matter how hard she tries to tempt him, so he resigns himself to the longest—and hardest—drive of his life.
Matt’s obvious attraction suits grad student Lucy Mason just fine. She had no idea her brother’s best friend was so deliciously hot. Knowing he’d never have his wicked way with his buddy’s sister, she lies about her identity and seduces him. But Matt’s no fumbling college boy. His desires run deep—and dark—and he wants to teach Lucy what wicked really means.
Matt’s demanding appetites only make Lucy want more. But when her cover’s blown, he’s furious—even as his hunger for her becomes insatiable. Matt can’t trust anyone, least of all himself. And he knows all too well that darkness always destroys the light…
Cosmo’s Thoughts
I read a lot of romance, but you probably know my preference is erotica. Well, let me just say this – this book might have been a contemporary romance, but it gave me all the feels of an erotica novel. And a good one, to be honest.
The reason for this, you might ask… Matt. Holy freaking lord, was he hot.Â
So hot.Â
So deliciously smoking hot.Â
Tessa Bailey gave us a hero with the dirtiest mouth. I love dirty talk. I live for it in books like this. And it makes me so freaking happy when an author does it right. And she definitely did it right in Staking His Claim.
The relationship between and Matt and Lucy was filled with chemistry from the beginning. And that chemistry didn’t go away, as it often does once the hero and heroine had sex. Nope. It just carried through, keeping me turning pages, and loving every single word.
I love a hero that is dominant, but not overpowering. And I love a man who can be vulnerable, all the while being strong. Matt was all of these things. He was definitely a hero I wouldn’t mind reading again. And Lucy was a very likable heroine. I enjoyed her, enjoyed her actions and reactions where Matt was concerned. She didn’t annoy me, which sadly, is often the case with romantic heroines.Â
If you’re looking for an enjoyable read, one that will turn you on and make you swoon, look no further. This is definitely the book for you. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Though, I enjoyed the incredibly written dirty talk the most.
4 stars!
