Tempting the Player by J. Lynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
J. Lynn, better known as Jennifer L. Armentrout, is at it again with Tempting the Player. The Gamble Brothers is her adult series and let me just say that I’m in love with these brothers.
In Tempting the Player we meet Chad Gamble… he’s the star pitcher for the Nationals but he finds himself needing an image overhaul. He’s the bad boy player on the team and in order to stay where he is, he is forced to clean up his act or move on and away from the team he loves, the city he loves, and his family.
Bridget Rodgers went into the bar Leather & Lace at the urging of her friend and her fiery red hair and sexy curves immediately catch Chad’s eye. After some teasing and flirting all of which Bridget is convinced is just for fun he makes his intentions clear.
Their lips were so close that their breath mingled. The steady hum of raucous conversation and music around them faded. Maybe it was the alcohol or the fact that it was Chad Gamble. Like any woman with ovaries, she had her fair share of fantasies surrounding the playboy, but everything felt surreal. She was hyperaware of what was happening and at the same time detached from logic.
“And just to be clear, that was not a line.” Chad’s head tilted to the side. “I want to kiss you.”
When Rachel and Chad are caught in a compromising picture, Rachel ends up being blackmailed, paying the price for by pretending she isn’t just someone he hooked up with on a whim.
The chemistry between these two was off the charts!
“There isn’t a ‘but’ in this.” He cupped her cheek, tilting her head back. When he spoke, his lips brushed hers. “I want you. Bad. Right now. Against the wall. On my bed. The floor and maybe in the bathroom later. I have a shower stall and a Jacuzzi we could put to really good use. I know you’d like it.”
I really enjoyed both the Chad and Bridget as characters and I think that Ms. Lynn (Armentrout) really excels at building those aspects in all of her books… this is no exception.
I will say that there were some editing issues in my ebook version that I noticed, but please don’t hold that against this series.
If you enjoy steamy, hot, fun and easy read then definitely check this series out. I know you won’t be disappointed!
