I found these books by accident and immediately fell in love with Will & Layken and I’m pretty sure you will too! Colleen Hoover has recently been picked up by Atria books, and her self-published books are officially no longer self-published! Huge congratulations to her on that! So… I’m going to include a link for you to purchase these books – HERE But I’m also going to include my original reviews of these two stories – I hope you’ll take the time to go give them a read!

By an author
An author who wrote an amazingly lovely book
First, I feel like I need to find Colleen Hoover and give her a giant hug for writing this lovely story.
Second… I need to tell you all to scoop this book up and give it a read.
I don’t know how I found this, it showed up in my timeline and the premise intrigued me so I quick bought it before I forgot about it.
This is part of a two book series (both are available now) So you can read straight through. I read Slammed in one sitting I couldn’t put it down. After Layken and her family deal with the unexpected death of her father they move from Texas to Michigan.
Unexpectedly, as Lake plans to hate Michigan, she connects with the boy who lives across the street, but life of course isn’t that simple. Will Cooper isn’t what she was expecting but he breaks through her walls only for them to find out something that Derails any chance they might have had at a relationship. Then she’s thrown another curve ball and he’s who she turns to to make sense of it.
I can’t tell you many of the details of the story because I don’t want to give anything away, but I laughed, I smiled, I got angry and I wiped tears while reading this book and as soon as I finished I wanted to read it again.
I loved the characters… Will, (of course) Lake, Eddie, and of course Lake’s mom. Life is never easy, and this book definitely shows that simply because one bad thing happens, doesn’t mean you’re out of the clear. But the lesson to take away is in one of the poems
“And he taught me the most
important thing of all…
To put the emphasis
On life.”
The poetry is a life of its own in this story… Slam poetry is performance poetry and plays a very important part in the story telling process. We learn quite a bit about the characters through the words and I thought it was a unique way to share parts of the characters stories.
If you are reading this review… Go get this book. I think like me, you will fall in love with it. Lake and Will and all the secondary characters will draw you in not let you go!

Im not even surprised that I loved this book as much as the first one. I was supposed to be writing a paper today … But I just had to read this first!
We are back in Will and Lake’s world almost a year after they officially started dating. This book is filled with ups and downs and the same wonderful characters that we met in Slammed plus a few more that I found myself growing attached to.
A lot happens in this second part, we meet some new neighbors and get to know some old friends. I was pleasantly surprised to find it is in Will’s point of view this time and I kinda loved it… A lot.
Are All the things that brought Will and Lake together enough to keep them there? Or will someone from Wills past raise doubts and fears ultimately tearing them apart?
Layken begins to question Their entire relationship and Will has to prove to her that everything they have is real and true.
I was not expecting part two of this book and that’s all I will say about that!
Excellent series of books and I’m so incredibly happy that I found them. I got to the last page and instantly wanted more… More of all of these quirky and wonderful characters.
Thanks for these lovely books Ms. Hoover and I look forward to whatever you have coming out in the future!
Highly recommend!
