When we reviewed the discussion questions for this tour, we had a slight moment of panic. Â I mean, how do you choose just one book for a favorite kiss. Â Of course we immediately went to our swoon list and if you know us, you probably won’t be surprised about the books (and kisses) we chose!
Erin’s Pick
My favorite literary kiss is in My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick.  If you haven’t read this book yet, you definitely should.  Samantha and Jase are the main characters and I have to tell you, Fitzpatrick knows how to make us swoon.  Although Jase and Samantha live right next door to each other, they have very different lives and seeing these two get to really know each other and then become more than friends…I loved every minute of it and the number of stickies marking my favorite pages is ridiculous but I’m ok with it.  Anyway, the kiss I am talking about in this book is Samantha and Jase’s first kiss and the lead up to it was fantastic.  Just read the quote and you will see what I mean.
Because I want you to really get an idea of why I love this kiss (or kisses if you want to get technical), you will need to continue reading…
His lips, warm and soft, touch my forehead, then slide down my cheek, moving sideways to my mouth. Â His hand comes up to press the nape of my neck beneath my wet hair, just as mine slips to his back. His skin’s warm beneath the cool sheen of water, his muscles tight as he lies there, still balanced on one elbow, I curl in closer.
I’m not new to kissing. Or I thought I wasn’t, but it’s never been anything like this. I can’t get close enough. When Jase gently deepens the kiss, it feels right, no moment of startled hesitation like I’ve had before.
After a long time, we swim back to shore and stretch out for a qhile on our towels, kissing again. Jase’s lips smiling under mine as I kiss all over his face. My hands tightening on his shoulders as he nuzzles my neck and softly nibbles my collarbone. It is as if everything else in the world stops as we lie here in the summer night.
“We should go home,” Jase whispers, his hands stroking my waist.
“No. Not yet. Not yet.” I say back, sliding my lips along the willing curve of his.
Jaime’s Pick
So Erin picked my number 1 book boyfriend but that’s okay because I have a number 2 and if you guys haven’t read The Anatomical Shape of a Heart yet, if you haven’t experienced Jack and Bex’s story… I don’t even know what to tell you.  This story is just all kinds of amazing, the relationships, the swoons, the characters, the kisses … just perfection for me.
I have to share the whole excerpt here so you get the full extent of the swoon though… are you ready?
“What do you want?” Â My voice sounded strange. I wished my heart would slow down. Â It was hard to breathe through my nostrils.
“What do I want?” His fingers brushed over loose strands of hair near my temple. “I want to call you every five minutes. I want to text you good night every night. I want to make you laugh. And I want you to look at me like you did that first night on the bus.”
Oh.
My pulse was out of control. Â I was so overwhelmed,I couldn’t meet his eyes. Â Couldn’t even respond. His head dropped until our cheeks were touching. Â I turned my face to his, and his mouth hovered over mine – just for a moment. Long enough for me to feel his arm circle my waist, and one warm hand slide up my back. Long enough for chills to bloom across my forearms.
And then he kissed me. Slowly, softly. Â He tasted like he smelled, sunny and warm, but the sweetness lasted all of five seconds.
My hands snaked around his back, and he pulled me closer. And then he was kissing me like we were both on fire and he was trying to put the flames out, and I kissed him back like an arsonist with a pocketful of matches.
We were both frantic and fevered, and it was the first kiss I’d ever had that felt like a fight. And the way he made my body ache made me thing I’d been doing it all wrong until now.
AND OMG YES THERE IS MORE – but you need to go get this book in order to read it!
We’re sharing this series with our amazing friend Corie who for some ungodly reason hasn’t listened to our flailing yet and started this. Â She’s going to get a copy of The Winner’s Curse and she better read it immediately! (pssst we love you Corie!)
