Top Ten Tuesday was originally created/hosted by the team that was The Broke & The Bookish but is now hosted by Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl! Â
This week in Top Ten Tuesday we are talking about books that we didn’t finish – I’m not big on not finishing titles, but if I know it just isn’t working for me, I don’t have a problem with putting a book aside. For the most part, when I DNF, I tend to set something aside and go back to it when I’m in a different mood… but the books you’re going to see below, that wasn’t the case for them. I never went back and I’m not sure I ever will!Â
Bone Gap by Laura Ruby – This one just wasn’t doing it for me… admittedly I’m not a huge fan of Magical Realism. I tried though.
Vanguard by Ann Aguirre– This killed me to not finish because I love the original series, but I just wasn’t able to get back into this.
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood – OMG – It was so hard not to just toss this book across the room.
Uprooted by Naomi Novik – I know… I’m the black sheep it seems on this one… everyone loves this, but by 50% in, I just wasn’t invested in the story or the characters.
Nice Try, Jane Sinner by Lianne Oelke – There is such a thing as being too snarky. It almost seemed forced to me so I gave up
London Belongs to Me by Jacquelyn Middleton – this was such a bomb for me… I gave up only 25% in.
The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich – I wanted to love this… that cover is everything, but again, I didn’t connect with the characters at all
City Love by Susane Colasanti – I could not get into this book at all – I totally gave up.
Do you DNF books? What are some of the titles you couldn’t finish? Let me know in the comments!Â
